Who the course is for
For anyone who wants to begin with yoga and does not know where. You need no previous practice and you do not need to be flexible. The course is the way in to classical yoga: it teaches the theoretical and practical foundations you can go on building on.
The aim is not to learn a handful of exercises. The course is meant to set off a change in body and mind that leads towards inner harmony and balance. The changes you notice in yourself afterwards will carry you further.
Three levels of practice
Mai Ram Yoga brings together methods of physical, mental and spiritual harmonisation. The course touches all three.
Body
Asanas, the particular postures, and pranayama, the regulation of breath.
Mind
Concentration and meditation, which calm the mind and teach you to work consciously with your feelings.
Spirit
A gradual widening of knowledge about yourself and your true Self.
What you will learn
Origin and philosophy
The psychology, philosophy and spiritual knowledge of Mai Ram Yoga. Its origin in the ancient Indian tradition of the nathas, the masters of yoga, and why knowledge is passed from teacher to student.
Method and sadhana
The Mai Ram Yoga method and the principles of its practice. What sadhana, spiritual practice, is.
Mind
The basics of meditation and concentration, and techniques that calm and steady the mind.
Body and breath
The basic asanas and postures, the basics of pranayama, and the anatomy and physiology that yoga practice really needs.
Theory and practice go side by side, so that you gradually gain firm ground for a practice of your own.
What you take away
An introductory diploma and a method for personal yoga practice, so you can carry on on your own at home.
Pranam Prakriti
Individual practice of asanas and postures.
Introduction to yoga
Individual asana practice.
Pranayama
Breathing exercises.
